In 2023, more than 15,000 Canadians were euthanized, as part of the government’s medical assistance in dying program. It’s become one of the top causes of death in Canada. Initially, the program was only eligible to individuals with a terminal illness whose death was “reasonably foreseeable.”
Today, it has expanded considerably, allowing patients who are chronically ill or in severe pain to apply, even if they do not have a fatal or terminal condition. In 2027, Canadians with mental illness will likely be eligible for medically assisted death.
My final analysis = Once killing the unborn is normalized and accepted as “healthcare”, where does one draw the line? Seems our neighbors to the North keep moving that line further out.
